Volunteers & Coaches

The City of Fort Walton Beach Recreational Sports Program is a volunteer-based organization, and we rely on parents to serve as coaches. Please consider volunteering. As a thank-you for your time and commitment, your child’s registration fee will be waived.

If you are unable to volunteer, we completely understand. However, we ask that all participants and families respect and support those who do choose to volunteer.

Behavior and Conduct

All City of Fort Walton Beach soccer players, coaches, parents, and spectators are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, respect for others, and appropriate behavior at all games and practices.

Anyone who fails to meet these expectations may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including suspension from City activities and removal from practice and game sites.

Safety Around Soccer Goals

Climbing on, hanging from, or playing on soccer goals or nets is dangerous. Coaches and parents are asked to warn players and children and to immediately stop anyone seen misusing the goals, as this behavior puts themselves and others at risk.

Age Requirements

Ages 3–15 years old. New athletes must provide proof of age. Players must have turned 3 years old by January 1, 2026. Players must not have turned 16 on or before January 1, 2026.

Exception: If your child is close to turning 3 and you are willing to coach your child’s team, your child may be allowed to register and play early.

Coaches’ Meeting

Coaches’ meetings are for head coaches, assistant coaches, and anyone planning to be part of the coaching staff. Please do not bring children.

Meeting Date: TBD
Location: Multipurpose Room

Season Start Date

Games are tentatively scheduled to begin between February 23 and March 2, 2026.

Typically, practice starts two weeks prior to games scheduled start date.

Team Placement

Team assignments will be finalized after the coaches’ meeting. You will be notified once teams are formed.

If you have not heard from your coach or from me by February 16, 2026, please email me. Some families may hear from their coach earlier than others. Coaches are given at least one week after the meeting to prepare before reaching out.

Requests

Teams will be randomly assigned for all age groups. No requests will be accepted. Children of coaches and sponsors will be placed on their respective teams. Siblings will be placed on the same team only if they are in the same age group.
