Expand Your Horizons Lecture Series at Heritage Park

The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center will host a free public lecture series focusing on learning more about Northwest Florida and how to explore it. We love our beaches, festivals, and pirates, but what treasures remain hidden? Come expand your horizons with us through the spring of 2012.

Our first speaker in this series will feature the Brian Rucker, PhD, on January 20th, 2012 at 6:00pm. Dr. Rucker will speak on his newest book "Treasures of the Panhandle: Journey Through West Florida". The lecture will take place inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum and will be followed by a book signing.

Dr. Rucker is a professor of history at Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida. He has written numerous historical works including "The Unionists of West Florida," "Image and Reality: Tourism in Antebellum Pensacola, "Timothy Twitchell," "Arcadia," and "West Florida's Creek Indian Crisis of 1837" among many others.

Heritage Park & Cultural Center is located at 139 Miracle Strip Parkway SE. The Indian Temple Mound Museum is Monday through Friday 12:00 to 4:30 and Saturday 10 to 4:30.
