The 2011 Christmas season kicks off with the City of Fort Walton Beach's Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the Landing on Friday, December 2nd.

The program begins at 4:00 p.m. when Santa will arrive by firetruck to visit with all the boys and girls. So be sure to bring your list...and your camera!

The City of Fort Walton Beach Dance Department led by Beverly Stewart and Natalie Carr will be on stage at 4:00 p.m. with their presentation of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year".

First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach Children's Chorus will take the stage at 4:30 p.m. The children's choir consists of children ages four to fifth grade.

At 5:00 p.m. you don't want to miss the reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by our own Scrooge (Michael "Taz" WrightReynolds, long time local favorite Actor).

The official lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Fort Walton Landing will take place at 5:30. Mayor Mike Anderson will be on hand to do the honors, officially kicking off the holiday season in the City of Fort Walton Beach.

Directly following the tree lighting, Fort Walton Beach High School Viking Singers and Voices of Valahalla will be leading Christmas carols around the tree.

Stay around after the Christmas caroling for an outdoor movie showing of "A Christmas Story" at 6:00 p.m.

Hot chocolate, cookies, popcorn, hot dogs and soft drinks will be available for purchase throughout the event.

Come out with your family and friends and spend this joyous time with your neighbors as the Christmas spirit will be in full swing!
